Dorothy and Henry are dear friends of mine since college. Thanks to the power of the internet, Henry was the officiant who married Jonathan and I, and Dorothy and I were each other’s bridesmaid. We’ve been Mammoth buddies for many years and that’s what brought us close. Gosh I miss those trips to Mammoth. We used to depart on Friday at 3am, arrive at Mammoth at 8am and snowboard all day. We usually then stay two nights there, but we once drove right back! I miss the days when we all had season passes and went every other week or so, but I also love all the new adventures we’ve all taken since. And we still make effort to go annually, so it all works out. All about balance, right?

So Dorothy & Henry got married a year ago, but Dorothy hadn’t gotten around to preserving her wedding dress. So before preserving her dress, Dorothy wanted to do another shoot in it. We took a trip back to the Turnip Rose where they got married a year ago, and then headed out to Newport Beach.

Because of all the very tragic Southern CA fires going on, I was worried about the air quality. The air in Newport Beach ended up looking good while we were at Turnip Rose, but as soon as it was sunset… well, you’ll see.

I love the foyer at Turnip Rose. I asked Henry & Dorothy to demonstrate their awesome ballroom dancing skills!

Then we headed out to the beach.

Although the sky looked clear, as soon as sun set, it was apparent how NOT clear it was… BUT, it did make for some really unique sunset pictures!

Chemistry with each couple is really important to me, and Angela & Charles was a reminder of why I limit the number of weddings I take a year so that I can really personalize the experience for each couple. From our first meeting, to our walkthrough, to the super fun engagement shoot, we shared some good times together and great meals. I saw them through their planning, and they saw me through my growth. When their wedding day finally came around, I totally shared in the excitment and whole surrealness of it all.

Angela and Charles had a very touching and personal wedding. Even with nearly 400 guest, the entire day felt extremely intimate. The day started out with hair & makeup by makeupartist247. Yessenia & Cynthia did a fabulous job and Angela worked on memorizing her vows.

Meanwhile, bridesmaid and flowergirl got ready upstairs:

Together with Isabelle of Taylor Your Memories, Angela & Charles came up with their beautiful Spanish Tiles theme.

Then it was off to Rancho Capistrano, where Charles was also hard at working groom-ing up:

Angela’s beautiful Allure dress awaited her arrival. (Dress purchased at Mariposa Boutique.)

I love the Spanish tiles all around Rancho Capistrano! I had to take some detail shots with it. Their gorgeous rings from Simon G. I love how dainty her band looks next to his.

And then off to get married! It was such a sweet moment when Angela’s mom walked her down the aisle. That moment when Angela and Charles saw each other, they both broke out in tears. I was literally tearing behind my camera!

And then a roll call picture on the dance floor! Jason from Visions Entertainment did a fabulous job, as always! In every event I have worked with Jason, he has run the show seamlessly. Any event where I know he’s DJ/emceeing, I know it will be a smooth night for me!
