I was in New Orleans for a wedding (and Jazz Fest) this weekend and so much happened while I was away! Our hotel had very limited internet access and I felt so isolated as all this excitement went on. I was at the mercy of twitter/fb from my phone to stay connected. I just wanted to take a minute to publicly congratulate my dear friends, Mark & Hanna, on bringing their company Lollacup to shark tank, and getting a deal! We have been friends since grad school and have always enjoyed talking about business together. They’ve seen me through other failed attempts at business, and I consider them integral in starting up my photography business. I’ve also seen them through a few businesses and saw them start Lollacup from just an idea. They have always been a source of inspiration for me, and I’m so incredibly proud of them!
If you have followed my blog for awhile, then you probably remember photos I took of their family – like the finger painting photo session we did when her second daughter turned one, or the valentine’s day shoot we did last year. I also do all their product photography.
If you haven’t seen the episode yet, click above to watch it! Many have said it was the best episode yet! They are the last pitch if you want to fast forward, but all the pitches were fun to watch. And yes, that’s my photo in their presentation!

I am so excited to share with you today 1 of 3 shoots from Propel. We started the morning off bright and early with a hot breakfast in the classroom as I started the program. No time was wasted. It was an inspiring morning where we covered topics including marketing strategies, sustainable business planning, work flow, getting published, establishing your style… After working up our appetite, I surprised all the propellers with a beautifully designed tea party! Everyone got time to shoot the setup, and I’m excited to announce that Jen from Green Wedding Shoes (who was one of our guest speakers) is going to be featuring a photo from one of our propellers this Friday! As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to see my students succeed, so I’m very excited to see a propeller published!

After tea, we had three beautifully styled portrait shoots. Here’s a little glimpse at one of our lovely models, Sonia, who also happens to be an amazing event planner. Special thanks to Skybox Event Productions for planning the logistics of the day for me. Everything flowed so smoothly!
