One of my favorite part is how colorful all the bridesmaids dresses were!  Ngoc literally just told them to go out and buy any colorful dress.

I wanted to share my photos featured in these magazines but haven’t gotten the chance.  I will soon though!  In the meantime, you can check out these magazines in your local bookstore.  On a random note, I’m typing with one hand.  Getting better at doing things one handed since having a baby. 

Tell me I’m not the only one… I often forget to stop and smell the roses.  As long as I can remember, I’ve always had some goal to chase -  college, grad school, buy a house, get married, start my own business…  And of course under each of those general goals had it’s specific goals too.  I’m often so eager to pursue the next goal that I don’t take the time to celebrate and just give myself time to feel proud.  When I first started this business, I was still teaching.  A fellow colleague told another student, who told me, that the best way to achieve your goal is to vocalize it.  Tell someone else your goal so that you are now accountable to achieve it.  I thought it made so much sense, but hard to do.  In a staff meeting, I told another colleague that I wanted to get my work published in a magazine… she ended up sharing that with the entire staff.  I turned red and thought, “Oh sh*t, now I have to do it.”

At the beginning of this year, I shared my very first publication in Ceremony magazine.  After that, I got consumed in the hustle and bustle of wedding season that I haven’t even shared the other recent magazines I was published in!  I’d like to take a few minutes to share this proud accomplishment with you all!  Thanks for all your continued support!

Above is the new Southern Weddings magazine.  They featured a photo of the dreamy dessert bar I shot for Popisme!

A few months ago, Your Wedding Day magazine featured Vivian & Sean’s wedding.  This is a proud moment for me because Vivian was one of my earlier brides.  She booked me suuuper early and I am so grateful to those who believed in me when I was just starting out.  You can still get a copy at your local Barnes & Nobel and Borders.  The next issue doesn’t come out until January, I think.

At the beginning of this year, I shared a few spreads of my work in Ceremony magazine, LA edition.  I didn’t notice til after that post that I also got 2 spreads in Ceremony magazine, OC edition.  I shot two beautiful tables for Elementals at La Venta Inn.

I am so excited to see my work in print for the first time!  When I first wanted to pursue photography (or anything creative for that matter), my parents just couldn’t understand.  As I juggled photography with teaching, my parents often said, “It’s nice that you like photography, but don’t let it affect your real job.”   When I quit teaching, they said, “You’re just taking a break, right?  You can go back?”  Of course I always just smile and nodded.  With my limited Chinese and their limited English, it’s hard to really talk about things.  It’s hard to express how happy and fulfilled I feel every time I capture the memories and tell the stories of my amazing clients.  When I received a preview of the new Ceremony Magazine a few weeks ago, I bookmarked all the pages I was on and gave my dad a copy.  My dad has always been a reserved man with his emotions and thoughts, so all I got was a slight smile and a nod from him.  From that simple gesture, I know he is proud.

I had to get Jonathan to take a quick photo of me in our driveway the day before my profile picture was due.  And I love the engagement photo they chose for Ngoc’s article about planning her own wedding.  She’s the owner of Sky Box Event Productions.

Ngoc is the mastermind behind Sky Box Event Productions.  Yes, the wedding planner now plans her own wedding!  In fact, Ceremony Magazine just published an article she wrote titled “A Wedding Planner Plans her Wedding”!  Check it out!  It’s published in the new 2010 Los Angeles Ceremony Magazine. Congrats, Ngoc!

Ngoc and Albert are about as cute as one can get.  I love how giggly they are together and just how much they ADORE each other!

After the sun went behind the mountain, we headed down into the tall grass (or whatever they are).  It’s so cool here!

And then while we were in the middle of the straws, we started to hear strange rustling and footsteps from inside and totally freaked out!  I love this last capture of us running out of there.  haha
