I have been dying to share this wedding for nearly a year now!  This amazing wedding took place in the middle of the forest at a private retreat called Nestldown.  I was 7.5 months pregnant when I shot this… doesn’t sound like a big deal until you see how vast this property is.  Truly a photographer’s dream!  You can read about this wedding on newsstands now!  It has recently been published in Destination I Do!

Remember the sweet cupcake engagement photos I blogged about last year?  Well, the very cute Jackie & Eugene are married!  You can read more about them from their engagement post, but in a nutshell, they’re both ER doctors.  That’s where they met.  Jackie loves shoes.  I mean, really loves shoes!  Don’t believe me?  Here are most of the shoes she wore this day:

Yes, not one, but two pairs of Louboutins!  One of her bridesmaid jokingly said, she spent more on her shoes than dress!

All evening, they had a silhouette artist there cutting silhouettes for guests!  She cut two – one for the guest book and one for the guests to keep.  So cute!

Moranda babysat for a family who lived in the Venice Canals and used to take the little boy on walks around the neighborhood.  On one of her walks, she met a boy who happened to live along the canals… and here we are today!  It only made sense to do their engagement session at the very place they met!

I was excited to know that Jakon lived along the canals and would have access to a boat.  The rain was a bit unexpected, but they were such troopers!  This was my first time shooting in full rainy weather.  It wasn’t just sprinkling… it was coming down!  For those who are curious, I just had my assistant hold an umbrella over me the entire shoot, and even still, my equipment (and me) were totally wet.  I had just come back from Boston with new rain boots, so I was way excited to use them.

They look so sweet in their little love boat.  I love that this is right in LA.

The umbrellas came as a necessity, but ended up being cute props too.

Liz and Eugene had a beautiful wedding at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown LA.  They are both some of the most selfless people I have met.  They are both in nonprofit and dedicated to social justice.  I was inspired by the commitment that they and their loved ones have for social justice.  And when two selfless people get together, you know they are both in very good hands.

One super cool fact is that Eugene had a huge role in the wedding planning.  Liz said he was the one who took care of all the details and scheduling.  I love that he incorporated one of his hobbies – Lego.  I LOVE all the Lego details that he incorporated!  And I LOVE Liz’s diamond jewelery and Christian Louboutin.

Eugene even got all the guys Lego cuff links!  So what does one do with lego cuff links?  Put Yoda & a stormtrooper on for the ride!

Their logo was a Lego heart.  And their slogan?  …Building our love … brick by brick.  so cute and clever!

Eugene even built their cake topper!  I love an involved groom!

Their flowers were all DIY by a family friend.  gorgeous, isn’t it?
